Hardware Specs

Aerospace grade hardware (bolts, screws, nuts, washers, cotter pins, rivets, etc.) should be used when designing and constructing an aircraft. Aerospace grade hardware is held to a higher standard for mechanical properties and corrosion prevention than conventional hardware. It is designated by AN (Army-Navy), MS (Millitary Standard), or NAS (National Aerospace Standard). Below is a high level overview of the common AN bolts and their respective hardware. Also included are details on mechanical properties, naming convention, and torque values.
